Blox update

We’re looking at a preliminary version of the new Blox site now and are in the process of sending our feedback to TownNews so that they can iron out some of the kinks. After that will be a period of fine-tuning before we go live some time at the end of January. It’s unclear so far just when we’re going to get the “keys” to our own site to play with.

In the meantime, we have been given access a test site to start to learn a bit about how Blox works from the editorial side of things. Let me say this: It’s quite a bit more complicated than the Web site system we’re using now.

Blox presents us with myriad new options for how we organize the present our stories and photos, but that means we lose the simplicity of just tossing a bunch of text files into a folder and pressing the “go” button.

This will mean training and new workflows. More details on that will come soon.
